2009 – It Was
A Very Good Year!
Thanks to all our fans, swing dancers, line dancers, and two-steppers, 2009
was a record year for Calico Ridge in terms of the number of dates the band
played and the size of the high energy crowds that hit the dance floors from
Chula Vista to Hemet and from a marina on San Diego Bay to a rib cook-off in
Holtville, near El Centro. Over 600 people, at $42 per person, attended the
REINS Hoedown this year and your dance events in Vista have been drawing
nearly 200 people on a consistent basis. It seems that the main limitation
these days is the size of the dance floors. Enthusiasm for dancing, as
couples or single, is gaining popularity as a way to blow off steam,
socialize and get some exercise. In response, Calico Ridge is constantly
adding to its wide variety of musical styles so that nobody can stay off
their feet during 2010!
REINS 2009 Hoedown
draws over 600 – Raises more than $250,000
REINS (Riding Emphasizing Individual
Needs and Strengths) Therapeutic Horsemanship Program, a non-profit
organization located in Fallbrook, has a unique approach to physical and
emotional therapy for people with disabilities: they use horses as a therapy
tool. Calico Ridge is proud to have again been a part of their Annual
Hoedown event which raised over $250,000! REINS' 185+ students come from all
over southern California and range in age from 2 to 83 and have disabilities
such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, seizure disorders,
developmental delays and other mental and physical challenges.
Something a
Little Different … New Years Eve at DeAnza Springs Resort
DeAnza Springs Resort is a "clothing
optional" resort located in Jacumba. The people are friendly and know how to
have a good time! Calico Ridge had several performances there during 2008
and 2009, including Halloween and New Years Eve with a full house and enough
energy to raise the roof.
Maybe not
the Queen … but a Little Royalty Never Hurts
Charly’s CD, "Hearts Desire" continues to receive commercial radio airplay,
internet radio play, and is used on pre-programmed tracks for business
establishments in the US, Europe and Asia. Each time a song plays, BMI
generates a royalty that helps supplement Calico Ridge income from clubs,
private parties and your generous tips. Guess it’s time to spend a little of
that and print some new t-shirts.
"One Fine
Day"
hits radio airplay charts
Charly's song, ONE FINE DAY, from her CD
Heart's Desire, was released to radio and ranked on a national top 50 airplay
chart. The chart is compiled in Nashville from national
airplay statistics of independent releases. Over 80 additional radio
stations are currently playing the song, bringing the total number of
stations playing Charly's music to OVER 200!
Over 300 Attend
Annual Country Dance Party in Chula Vista
Calico Ridge played to a crowd of over 300
people at a country dance party held in Chula Vista. The enthusiastic crowd
enjoyed barbecue steak dinners and dancing under the stars at this annual
event.
"Heart's Desire"
charts on Independent Country top 50
Charly made her debut on a national airplay
chart with her recently released single, Heart's Desire (the title track
from Charly's CD). The chart is compiled in Nashville from national
airplay statistics of independent releases. Sheryl Crow and Vince Gill are
also on the list, so Charly is in good company!

a broad appeal. Charly's music is currently being played on approximately

San Diego Business
Journal features Calico Ridge bassist in "Executive Profile"
Hey! Who's the guy in the suit? Just
look at the Executive Profile in the November
10, 2003 issue of the SAN DIEGO BUSINESS JOURNAL (SDBJ)
and you'll see a familiar face--Calico Ridge bassist,
Victor Ott! In all fairness, Victor's "day job"
is what caught the attention of the SDBJ, but
Victor managed to plug Calico Ridge in the process. Click on
SDBJ Article to read for yourself!
